Information

The Tenor Guitar!

The tenor guitar is a slightly smaller, four-string version of the steel-string acoustic guitar or electric guitar. The instrument was developed so that players of the four-string tenor banjo could double on the guitar.

Sorry...not Gibson - not re-finished.

Hmm, could it possibly be a Gibson TG-50 that has been stripped & refinished?

Comment by Dick Glasgow on November 29, 2011 at 12:30pm

Ok I'm posting this for BigPot.

What is this Tenor Guitar?

Member BigPot, thought it might be fun to post this photo of his Tenor Guitar, to see if anyone here can put a maker's name to it.

For the record, he already knows exactly what it is.

So .... any guesses?

Have just joined the tenor guitar group after getting a Christmas present of an Ozark tenor guitar from my wife. It may be at the lower end of the price scale but it appears to have a lovely tone to it. I gave it to a professional musician to play yesterday and he was impressed.

If you live in Northern Ireland, you can access this video clip from last night's BBC 2 Blas Ceoil, of me playing a set of Reels on my Fletcher Tenor Guitar along with Uilleann Pipes, Fiddle & Bodhran in The House of McDonnell, Ballycastle.

@ Dick - I won't get it until sometime this Spring. It is due to be started with the next grouping of tenortones that Jamie will be working on.
