I just received the first photos of my new Tenor Guitar today & just had to show it off to you folks!.

Jamie Dougan, over at Fletcher Tenortone has only just finished it & now I can't wait to get my grubby little paws on it!

Of course, it's going to be 3 or 4 weeks of a wait, while it settles for him to be happy to send it, plus travel & customs time this end, but I'm sure it'll be well worth the wait.

So what do you think?

Cheers,
Dick

That is one beautiful tenor guitar. We will need video/audio files. I feel a case of TGAS coming on.
Well folks, the good news is that Jamie is now just waiting for my Cheque to clear, before wrapping up my Tenortone & sending it across the Atlantic!

Does time ever move more s l o w l y than when you are waiting for a new instrument to arrive? :-(

Anyway, prepare to be bombarded by Tenortone YouTubes! :-)

Cheers
Dick
Can't wait to hear it--actually I want to get my own grubby paws on one, but alas my bank account won't allow it... I live only about 60 miles north of the builders so maybe I can see their work.
60 Miles North eh ... lucky you.

It'd certainly be great, to be able to visit their workshop & try them out.
Very beautiful tenor, indeed! I like the look of the spruce top, too, though the mahogany ones are nice, too. Great peghead shape for a banjo lover... Having looked around a bit at different makes and shapes of these little fellows, I think I like this style the best--with a narrow, rounded upper bout and slim waist... Something like the Martin 'New Yorker' guitars... The more 'dreadnought'-type shapes look less well proportioned to me...kind of too chunky for the neck size. The slim 'female' form of these looks great and should be fun to cradle in your lap, too.....
Look forward to hearing the sound of yours, I bet it sounds as good as it looks! The sound file of Ms. Carberry playing one of these is fantastic, especially on headphones.....nice rich open strings and chords....

I've always wanted to try making an instrument... and maybe one of these would be just the ticket. Perhaps Stew-Mac has a decent parts kit... I'll have to check around....

Good luck with it!
I've only ever heard one of these 'in the flesh' & that was Angelina's at a concert near here, about 1 year ago, but that's what sent me down this road in the first place.

I've gone for the JD2 which has Maple Binding & X Bracing.

Jamie only used ladder bracing until about a year ago, but now you get the option of going for either Ladder or X Bracing.
My one is a Rosewood Tenor with a Spruce Top.

Jamie finished those two at the same time recently & I found out just the other day that an old friend from my Aberdeen days, Ged Palmer, who is also a member here, actually bought the other one!
He is out in Abu Dhabi & he already has his & says he's delighted with it.

Here they are side by side! Both have a Spruce Top but Ged's Guitar is of Quilted Mahogany

Hopefully, one day we'll get a chance to actually play them side by side, which I'm sure will be fascinating, actually getting a chance to hear how the different woods used, effects the sound.

As for the body size, I have looked at as many different Tenors as I can & I have no doubt that those big bodied jobs are louder than the Fletcher ones, but for me the proportions are all wonky, whereas the Tenortones just look right somehow.
Also, like most folks here, for years I've been tuning the top 4 strings of my 6 stringed Guitar & playing it like a Tenor, with a Capo on, but as well as the neck being far too long, the huge body just gets in the way for real comfort.

Anyway, it will hopefully be in the post & starting its journey sometime tomorrow, so I can assure you, you will not have to wait too long to see & hear my Tenortone in action on YouTube.

Let's hope Ged will also get round to posting a couple of YouTubes! ;-)

Cheers,
Dick
Those are beautiful instruments and great sounding. I am looking forward to your youtube videos also.
Watch this space! :-)
Well, my Tenortone arrived yesterday evening, so here's a wee glimpse of how I'm getting to grips with it.
